In the series finale, we discover that the book is meant for Tully. Throughout the final episodes of Firefly Lane, we find that Kate is intent on finishing a book. She finishes writing her book and gifts it to Tully. There is nothing anyone can do to stop it, and ultimately Kate decides to stop treatment and enjoy the rest of her time with her friends and family.
