Bear in mind it's a little more horror-y than the cover suggests, but if you are or were the mother of a tyrannical sleepless toddler, this book is, uh, cathartic. So this was a very disconcerting read but also a very powerful and interesting one, and I hear there is an adaptation starring Amy Adams, which sounds perfect. I mean damn! I too have a boy child who won't sleep and I too worry that I am dumb now, perhaps permanently, and I too am, just, SO tired. Her opening lines had me laughing out loud, and I love how Huchu does dark academia through Ropa's. I'm a little behind in the series (this is book 2, with book 3 recently getting announced for next year) but I think Ropa is just the most fun. Huchu, who is also a fantastic human being (and one I'll be chatting with at MCM Comic Con in London).

I'm a big fan of the Edinburgh Nights series by T.L. As Alexene, her debut YA novel My Mechanical Romance released May 2022 from Holiday House (US) and Macmillan Children's (UK).Īlexene lives and works in Los Angeles with her husband and goblin prince/toddler, where she is generally tolerated by her rescue pit bull. She has also been published as well as the writer for the graphic series Clara and the Devil and a variety of other books. Under her Olivie byline, New York Times and Sunday Times bestselling The Atlas Six released 2022 from Tor Books, followed by its sequel The Atlas Paradox and the re-release of her viral literary romance Alone With You in the Ether. More often, her works revolve around the collective experience, what it means to be human (or not), and the endlessly interesting complexities of life and love.Īlexene tripped and fell into writing after abandoning her long-premeditated track for Optimum Life Achievement while attending law school, and now focuses primarily on the craft and occasional headache of creating fiction.

Alexene Farol Follmuth, also known under the pen name Olivie Blake, is a lover and writer of stories, many of which involve the fantastic, the paranormal, or the supernatural, but not always.
